One year ago today, I took office as District 1 Supervisor after 13,508 Richmond District residents voted for me in November 2020 as their first choice to represent them in City Hall. It was a difficult and emotional day to take office two days after the January 6th Capitol insurrection. But we knew we had work to do, so from Day 1 my team and I hit the ground running. And in 2021, we made a lot of progress.
A year later, although our office has accomplished a lot, we recognize there is so much more to be done. The moment to celebrate our hard fought election victory was brief because we immediately faced the challenges of getting our community vaccinated, keeping our tenants housed, guaranteeing hazardous pay for our essential workers, and supporting our most vulnerable with basic necessities including food and shelter. Meanwhile, we continue to fight against fascists, powerful corporate interests, and public corruption.
This is why last month, I introduced legislation to create good and clean government to reform City Hall. Our City deserves better and more equitable city services for everyone. We demand reliable transit, clean and safe streets, and efficient, equitable access to city services.
Will you join me in this fight against public corruption, and demand good and clean government in 2022? If so, please sign up to voice your support for this legislation at the Board of Supervisors’ public hearings and provide public comment.
