Westside Reopening Hearing
Last month, I called for a hearing on the reopening of the economy on the westside of San Francisco. As we prepare to reopen the city, we need to ensure we improve the safety of our streets, mobility options, and overall connectivity of transportation on the westside. On March 23 at 10 am, tune into SFGovTV or SF Cable Channel 26 to watch the San Francisco County Transportation Authority’s Commission meeting, where the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority will present their plan for reopening. Please follow our social media accounts to stay tuned on how to call in for public comment.

Are you a small business owner? This Thursday, March 18 at 10 am, Supervisor Preston, Mandelman, Ronen and myself will be holding a hearing on Small Business Rent Debt at the Government Audit and Oversight committee with the Office of Economic Workforce Development and the Office of Small Business. The hearing will discuss several issues impacting small business owners including rent relief during the pandemic, and local and city-provided resources.

Lands End Lookout Upcoming Reopening
The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy plans to re-open Lands End Lookout in mid-April. We are excited for this development, which aligns with San Francisco advancing to the red tier and California reopening guidelines.
In addition, from March 5th to mid-April their staff will offer ‘door service’ on Fridays - Mondays, following CDC and SF Public Health guidance. This means that from a safe distance and shielded by a viral guard, visitors can receive park information and guides about trails, wildlife, and cultural highlights of the area and all of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. They will also offer a selection of park products and publications along with cold beverages and packaged snacks. Cashless payment options will be available.
Like most of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, this park site has been closed since last year due to COVID public health and shelter-in-place restrictions. Understanding that this impacted the public restrooms at the Lookout, the Parks Conservancy brought in three port-a-potties. We know that access to outdoor spaces is more important than ever, and we wanted to make sure Lands End visitors have access to restrooms despite COVID-related closures of indoor operations.
Paving of Legion of Honor
Work is underway on a smoother Legion of Honor Drive. The paving of the Legion of Honor Drive will begin on March 15 through March 16. The Department of Public Works paving crew will begin work at 8:30 AM through 2:30 PM. The road will be closed on both days and nights starting on March 15 at 6:00 AM. The roads will reopen on March 17 at 6:00 AM. The area that will be paved is indicated in the photo above.
