It was wonderful to connect with neighbors and friends at the Autumn Moon Festival last weekend. I heard from so many of you about our district and appreciated the honest conversations about public safety, housing, transportation and more. It was also great to shop the art and delicious food vendors.
What a great celebration of the rich culture of the Richmond District and the new beginnings that come with the Autumn Moon harvest season. If you weren’t able to make it out, you can check out the amazing performances in this video from the Richmond Review.
I want to thank all the performers, the community organizations for tabling and sharing valuable resources with residents, and all the sponsors for their support of this awesome event.
Health Updates & Resources
COVID-19
COVID-19 numbers are continuing to drop in San Francisco, we are seeing about 85 new cases a day, but we should not let our guard down. We expect that there will be an uptick in cases in the winter. Protect yourself by getting vaccinated or boosted. The bivalent COVID-19 booster is free and is now widely available at health care providers and pharmacies. Those 12 years and older are eligible for this new two-strain COVID booster. Find more information on COVID-19 in San Francisco by visiting the SF Department of Public Health website.
District Updates
Richmond District Small Businesses
Last month I joined Office of Small Business Director Katy Tang for a walk in our District to meet with merchants and talk about issues affecting our small businesses, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Law and how to apply to become a legacy or anchor business. You can find information about all of these issues on the OSB website.
Latinx Heritage Month
September 15th - October 15th marks Latinx Heritage Month. At our Board meeting last week, I was honored to recognize some of the Richmond District’s most beloved community members, the Bermejo family. Tomas and Elmy Bermejo founded Tommy's Mexican Restaurant in the Richmond District in 1965. The Bermejo family has been supporting the Richmond community for 57 years with delicious food, Tommy's margaritas, and a place to connect with each other.

Guo Pei: Couture Fantasy
If you have not yet visited the Guo Pei: Couture Fantasy exhibit currently at the Legion of Honor, I highly recommend taking time to go see the beautiful works by Chinese designer Guo Pei. The exhibit has been extended through November 27 and features 80 ensembles by Pei. These remarkable garments mix traditional Chinese features with haute couture design.
