Requesting/Inquiring: That the Directors of Public Health, Mental Health, and Children’s Mental Health conduct a review of acts of suicide among teenage students in order to:

1. Ascertain and inform the Board concerning the incidence of self-violence and self-destructive behavior among teenage students.

2. Analyze and present the causes of this self-destructive behavior.

3. Provide information regarding current services available to assist behavior.

4. Review current City and County protocols and structures relating to assisting teenage students suffering from depression in a timely and proactive manner, and recommend necessary changes to these protocols, structures and services.

5. Analyze and explain the role of depression in the behavior of teenage students, and how the efforts of depression can be mitigated or ameliorated.

6. Understand how depression and stress may be manifested differently depending on cultural and ethnic differences.

7. Examine the capability of the City and County to assist and support teenage students suffering from depression, who may be subject to such self-destructive behavior.

8. Present recommendations to reduce, and ultimately to prevent such self-destructive behavior among teenage students.
